The PCG have announced that this year’s National Freelancers Day will be attended by author and freelancer Alastair Campbell. The former labour spin doctor will be a keynote speaker as well as a member of the expert panel at the NFD’s fourth annual event.
Mr Campbell spoke about his own interpretation of being a freelancer, as well as praising the 1.6m workers who operate as freelancers in the UK. He said, “I define myself as a freelancer because I do ‘a little bit of this and a little bit of that’ which is often the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a freelancer.”
“I also recognise that there are freelancers who are very specialist and have a very particular expertise. I think that in all sectors there is, and indeed should be, a role to play for people brought in either for their expertise or for special projects and that’s why I’m very happy to be supporting and sharing ideas with the sort of people National Freelancers Day represents.”
PCG Managing Director John Brazier, the event organiser, said that they were thrilled to be welcoming Alastair Campbell to the event on November 21st, adding that it “promises to be a fascinating event at an inspiring venue.”
With the UK’s freelancers and contractors continually shown to be a key workforce in the UK’s attempts to recover from the economic recession, this year’s event is expected to continue to highlight the vital role that they play. More information can be found on the National Freelancers Day website.
